PSA-RSSO-BARMM Conducts Second Level Training on the 2024 Crops Production Survey (CrPS)

19 February 2024, Cotabato City. The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PSA RSSO-BARMM) successfully conducted the Second Level Training on the 2024 Crops Production Survey (CrPS) on February 12-14, 2024 held at the Lakandula Hall, PSA-BARMM in Cotabato City.

The training was spearheaded by Engr. Akan G. Tula, OIC- Regional Director of RSSO-BARMM and Mr. Edward Donald F. Eloja, Chief of Statistical Operations and Coordination Division. The training was facilitated by Ms. Marilou A. Gorospe, Statistical Specialist II and Ms. Nurmina A. Wahid, Administrative Aide VI of PSA – Sulu, also the regional and provincial focal persons, respectively.

The CrPS is one of the major agriculture surveys conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). This survey aims to generate estimates on volume of production, areaplanted/harvested, number of bearing trees/hills/vines, and farm gate prices for crops other than palay and corn at the national and sub-national levels.

In accordance with approved PSA Board Resolution No. 14, Series of 2023, the survey will use separate sampling designs for household-based and establishment-based farms. Additionally, it will now collect data on farm gate prices which were previously gathered through the Farm Prices Survey (FPS).

The data collection for the 1st Quarter of 2024 CrPS will start on 14-27 March 2024 which will now utilize the use of tablets for Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) approach of data gathering.

Furthermore, the PSA BARMM ensures that all personnel involved in the conduct of the surveys strictly adhere to the Field Operation Guidelines and health protocols. The Office also guarantees that all information gathered from the survey respondents will be handled with the utmost confidentiality pursuant to the provisions of the Philippine Statistical Act (RA 10625) and the Data Privacy Act (RA 10173).
