Tawi-Tawi’s Economy Posts 6.9 Percent Growth in 2022

The economy of Tawi-Tawi posted a positive growth of 6.9 percent in 2022. This is slightly lower than the 8.6 percent growth in 2021. This represents an increase in the value of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the province of Tawi-Tawi from 23.18 billion pesos in 2021 to 24.78 billion pesos in 2022. (Figure 1)

 

 

Among 16 industries, the following recorded the fastest growth. These were Construction, 30.6 percent; Other Services, 30.4 percent; and Transportation and storage, 29.9 percent. (Table 1)

 

 

The Provincial Product Accounts or PPA has been the mechanism of the PSA to compile the annual estimates of Gross Domestic Product by province, consistent with the National and Regional Accounts of the Philippines. In 2023, all provinces of BARMM continue to implement the PPA since its inception in 2021, together with other pilot regions. As of 2023, there are a total of 82 provinces and 17 HUCs compiling the PPA.
