10 March 2025, Tawi-Tawi – As a proactive effort to accelerate the National Registration in the Province of Tawi-Tawi, Mr. Bolkiah D. Dumama, Registration Officer III of RSSO BARMM, and Masil S. Mohammadsha, Chief Statistical Specialist of PSA Tawi-Tawi, along with their National ID personnel, visited the Provincial Governor of Tawi-Tawi, Hon. Ysmael "Mang" I. Sali on 04 February 2025 at Provincial Capitol of Tawi-Tawi. The meeting was attended by members of the Provincial Board and other key officials, underscoring strong local government support for the initiative.
The courtesy visit aimed to discuss the status of National ID Registration in the province and explore ways to enhance registration efforts, particularly in the geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs). Recognizing the importance of the National ID program, Governor Sali, along with the board members and officials, expressed their commitment to support the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in intensifying registration efforts across the province.
During the discussion, key strategies were proposed, including prioritizing National ID registration in Tawi-Tawi and mobilizing the Provincial Government to encourage all local government units (LGUs) under its jurisdiction to actively support and mandate registration efforts. Governor Sali also underscored the need to ensure that unregistered residents, especially those in remote communities, are reached through a coordinated approach with municipal mayors.
Furthermore, based on the 2020 Census of Population, emphasis was placed on prioritizing municipalities where National ID registration remains below 75%. Ensuring higher registration rates in these areas will help strengthen access to government services and promote inclusivity in the province.
This collaboration is expected to boost National ID implementation in the province, ensuring that more residents gain access to the benefits of the National ID system, which aims to provide a unified and simplified identification system for all Filipinos.
