PSA RSSO BARMM Tawi-Tawi Enjoins the Celebration of “Pambansang Buwan Ng Mga Katutubo”

In celebration of “Pambansang Buwan Ng Mga Katutubo”, the Philippine Statistics Authority RSSO BARMM Tawi-Tawi actively participated during the “Indigenous People Month Service Fair” held at Barangay Tubig Indangan, Simunul, Tawi-Tawi on October 15, 2024.

The activity aims to give importance to the Presidential Proclamation 1906 s. 2009 to commemorate the enactment of Republic Act 8371 or The Indigenous Peoples Rights Act on October 29, 1997. And the continuous development, enrichment, and propagation of indigenous rights that can contribute to the greater well-being and national prosperity of Filipinos. 

The event was graced by Senator Robin Padilla, Provincial Governor of Tawi-Tawi, Hon. Mang Sali, Vice Governor, Hon. Al-Syed Sali, and Municipal Mayor, Hon. Wasilah Abdurahman. The Provincial Governors Office and the Local Government Unit of Simunul lead the celebration through various activities. Total attendees reached an estimated 1,500. The PSA Tawi-Tawi joins the other line agencies in delivering quality services. PhilSys registrations, ePhilID issuances, and Birth registration (BRAP) were made available by PSA personnel for the indigenous people in Simunul.

The successful activity is a result of the efforts of our community partners. Together, the Philippine Statistics Authority RSSO BARMM Tawi-Tawi offered the indigenous people of Simunul the opportunity to experience the services of the agency.

The Philippine Statistics Authority- Tawi-Tawi registration team, appreciates and values the rights of indigenous people and keeps its commitment that “no one will be left behind” because protecting the rights of our natives is also protecting our nature and the lives of humanity.
