02 February 2024, Cotabato City. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao joined the celebration of the "World Hijab Day” with the theme: “Veiled in Strength” held on 01 February 2024 at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex, Bangsamoro Government Center (BGC) in Cotabato City.

The event was spearheaded by the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC). Several speakers and other notable personalities highlighted the importance of wearing hijab in Islam.

The noble initiative primarily aims to encourage women of all religions and backgrounds to wear and experience wearing hijab; and to educate and spread awareness as to why hijab is worn. Hence, the celebration is rooted in advocacy for religious freedom, cultural diversity, and women empowerment.
