
03 February 2025, Parang, Maguindanao Del Norte – The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PSA RSSO-BARMM), in collaboration with PSA Maguindanao and the Association of Local Civil Registrars of Maguindanao Del Sur, Maguindanao Del Norte, and Cotabato City, successfully launched the 35th Civil Registration Month with a grand kick-off program. This year’s theme is: “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-Fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) System.”
The event began with a motorcade at 8:00 AM, starting from the Cotabato City Old City Hall and ending at the Municipal Hall of Parang, Maguindanao Del Norte. Civil registrars and representatives from various local government units joined the activity, demonstrating their commitment to strengthening the CRVS system in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
After the motorcade, the main program took place at the Sangguniang Bayan Hall in the Municipal Hall of Parang, Maguindanao Del Norte. Distinguished guests delivered speeches highlighting the importance of an efficient and future-ready civil registration system. OIC Regional Director Engr. Akan G. Tula shared an inspirational message, emphasizing the critical role of civil registrars and encouraging innovation, collaboration, and excellence in civil registration.
A special tribute was given to Mr. Karim O. Omar, the Municipal Civil Registrar of Parang, Maguindanao del Norte, in recognition of his invaluable contributions to civil registration services in the municipality.
The 35th Civil Registration Month aims to raise awareness of the importance of timely, accurate, and complete civil registration and vital statistics. Designated under Proclamation No. 682, signed by former President Corazon C. Aquino on 28 January 1991, February is observed annually as Civil Registration Month. This celebration reminds Filipinos of their duty to register acts and events concerning personal status while fostering nationwide appreciation of the legal, administrative, and statistical value of civil registry documents.
