
28 February 2025, Cotabato City – The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PSA RSSO BARMM) successfully concluded the 35th Civil Registration Month on 28 February 2025 at Sheik Makhdum Hall, PSA BARMM, Cotabato City.
The event highlighted the importance of a resilient Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system. Hosted by Statistical Analyst Firdaus Abdullah, the program began with an invocation led by Administrative Assistant Sergio C. Españo for the Christian prayer and Statistical Analyst Mohamad Harryz Tuan for the Muslim prayer.
Regional Accountant Rufaidah T. Ibrahim delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the role of civil registration in ensuring legal identity and access to essential services.
Special recognition was given to Statistical Specialist II Melanie S. Mohammad for her dedication and to the bloodletting activity participants.
OIC Regional Director Engr. Akan G. Tula shared insights on the CRS-OUTLET and upcoming initiatives. He also discussed the legal provision prohibiting local government employees from attending weddings involving minors and acknowledged the Barangay Captain’s commitment to providing free blood transfusions for PSA employees in need.
Registration Officer IV Delson Yusop provided an informative lecture on Republic Act 11596, discussing the prohibition of child marriage and its legal implications. Rufaidah T. Ibrahim added insights from a recent training, highlighting the law’s intent to protect children’s welfare and the necessity of mutual consent in marriage under Islamic teachings.
The program featured a special intermission number by OJT trainee Rasul Ali Mohamad and a video presentation showcasing the highlights of the 35th Civil Registration Month.
Chief SOCD Edward Donald F. Eloja concluded the event by reaffirming the PSA’s fourfold mandate: civil registration, surveys and statistics, the National ID System, and the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS). He emphasized the continuous improvement of CRVS to create a more inclusive and responsive system.
The event successfully marked the culmination of the 35th Civil Registration Month celebration, with an appreciation extended to all attendees, speakers, organizers, and participants.
