27 September 2024, Cotabato City – The Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PSA-RSSO-BARMM) announces the conduct of the month-long celebration of the 35th National Statistics Month. The celebration will commence with a motorcade caravan on 1st October 2024 at 8:30 AM from the People’s Palace, Cotabato City through South Seas Mall where the opening ceremony will be held.
This year's celebration of the 35th NSM carries the theme: "Advancing Data and Statistics Through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation” highlights the significant role of technology in advancing the statistical system and the quality of statistics through the adoption of digital tools and platforms optimizing government services to improve the accuracy, timeliness and accessibility of statistics.
Generally, it aims to increase efficiency and create more avenues for the general public to get better services―making it easier for the Filipino people to access government products and services and participate in governance processes from the comfort of their own devices.
The annual activity is observed pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647, declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month issued on 20 September 1990 by then President Corazon C. Aquino; and by virtue of the PSA Board Resolution No. 11, series of 2021, which mandates the "Enjoining and Institutionalizing Support to the Annual Celebration of the National Statistics Month".
The NSM celebration aims to: 1. promote, enhance and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society; and 2. to elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.
Throughout the month of October, stakeholders involved will be conducting a series of activities, forums, and discussions designed to promote statistical activities. These endeavors aim to raise awareness of the great importance of data-driven decision-making, showcasing the exemplary contributions data towards our nation's sustainable growth and development.
