PSA Sulu Joins Awareness Seminar on Muslim Personal Laws and Civil Registration

On July 24, 2025, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Sulu was invited as one of the guest speakers during an Awareness Seminar on Presidential Decree 1083, also known as the Code of Muslim Personal Laws, along with other laws affecting Muslims in the Philippines. The event was organized by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) and held at Sumadja Hall, SACC Capitol Site, Bangkal, Patikul, Sulu.

Statistical Specialist II, Darwisa Jakkang represented PSA-Sulu and delivered a presentation on the Certificate of Registration of Authority to Solemnize Marriage (CRASM), highlighting its significance in the civil registration of Muslim marriages.

Other notable guest speakers included Assoc. Prof. Darwin J. Absari from the UP Institute of Islamic Studies in Diliman, Quezon City; Johayra A. Datlan, Senior Lecturer and DMO III of the Shar’ah Training and Education Division, BMCA-NCMF; Hon. Remee-Raida Saipudin Tanjili, SCC Presiding Judge, Luuk, Sulu; and Atty. Michael Mito-on J. Ali, Chief of the Legal Affairs Division, NCMF.

This collaborative effort reflects the shared commitment of government institutions in promoting awareness and understanding of Muslim personal laws and civil processes, ensuring that public services remain inclusive, respectful, and accessible to all sectors of society.
