The economy of Basilan Province grew by 7.4 percent in 2022, faster than the 4.9 percent growth in the previous year. This represents an increase in the value of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from  PhP 20.94 billion in 2021 to PhP 22.48 billion in 2022. The GDP levels in 2022 exceeded the pre-pandemic levels by PhP 2.39 billion.  (Figure 1)

All three major industries recorded growth in 2022. Agriculture, forestry, and fishing (AFF) recorded a growth of 5.0 percent, Industry grew by 3.3 percent, and Services expanded by 13.7 percent. In terms of share by major industry, AFF had the biggest share, accounting for 43.2 percent of the total economy of Basilan. Services followed with a share of 33.6 percent. Meanwhile, Industry had a share of 23.1 percent.
